Roots & Vines partners with Kelowna artist Sarah Lewke at Off The Grid Organic Winery for “Creative Juices” – summertime wine + art workshop series
After spending time tasting several elegant Okanagan white wines (perhaps a juicy and tart Reisling with a lemon-lime finish, or a fragrant and floral gewurztraminer with sweet honey on the palette), you make your way through the rustic wine shop of Off The Grid Organic Winery, emerging through the back entrance to face a long table set with canvases and an assortment of paints, shaded by umbrellas, with quiet piano instrumentals floating towards you against a stunning backdrop. You look out over pine forests sloping down to the glistening azure of Okanagan Lake, stately Knox Mountain standing behind it, and the distant geometry of Kelowna’s downtown cultural district in the corner of your view; all against an expansive, clear-blue sky marked by billowing clouds. You sit down with a glass of crisp Pinot Gris, bursting with pear and apple notes, pick up your paintbrushes, and start mixing. Amidst vibrant colours and contrasts, the sound of birds in the trees nearby and the incredible vista filling your view, you relax into the stillness and beauty of the vineyard and tap into your inner artist.
This is creative fervour. This is unique opportunity. This is self-care. This is bliss.
Roots & Vines is very pleased to extend an invitation to an intimate and immersive art and wine-touring experience. The tour starts with tastings at three West Kelowna wineries and ends with a painting workshop taught by local Kelowna artist Sarah Lewke, who brings extensive teaching experience and personal expertise. Sarah’s session interacts with the vineyard itself; incorporating landscape painting techniques, color theory, watercolour tips-and-tricks and her own signature style, all the while facilitating a free-form creative space for every person to explore. Charcuterie platter and wine are also included as part of the workshop.
In the spirit of our partnership with Off The Grid, this an is au naturel experience, seeking to highlight the creative power of the individual and oft-neglected power of being present in natural surroundings. Turn off your devices, and tap into your humanity, with Creative Juices: Unplugged.
Only 10 spots available per session.
Summer dates: August 7th and 21st, from 3-8pm.
